Airline Updates
Insel Air is now offering direct jet service each Wednesday and Saturday from Charlotte, NC to Curacao, with connections available to Bonaire. The flights leave Charlotte at 2:55 pm and arrive in Curacao at 7:10 pm with a connecting flight leaving Curacao at 9:30 PM arriving in Bonaire at 9:55 PM.
Other options for air travel to Bonaire include
Saturday direct flights on Insel Air from Miami to Bonaire.
MIA-BON Outbound Flight #908 departs MIA at 3:55 PM and
arrives in Bonaire at 6:55 PM, the return flight #907
departs Bonaire at 11:25 AM and arrives in Miami at 2:25 PM,
offering plenty of time to make late afternoon connecting
flights.

Tiara Air has
added more flights to their Aruba/Bonaire schedule and revised the schedule to
accommodate earlier morning flights. They have also added an evening
flight which allows travelers to make connections to and
from the US and Venezuela via Aruba on Monday, Wednesday
and Friday. Travelers destined for the US also have a
new option for flights from (but not to) the States on
Sundays.
Continental Airlines offers direct flights to Bonaire from Newark New Jersey and
Houston Texas. During low season, from May - August, Flight #1553 departs Newark
(ERW) around midnight each Friday night and arrives on
Bonaire Saturday mornings shortly after
5:00 AM*. Return Continental flight
#1556 departs Bonaire at approximately 7:00 AM Saturday arriving
Continental also offers
nonstop service from Newark (ERW) to
Curacao each Wednesday and
Saturday. This 5 hour flight leaves Newark at 8:50 AM
arriving in Curacao at 2:40 PM and departure Curacao at 3:40
PM arriving back in Newark at 7:40 PM, allowing a wide
window for connecting flights from Bonaire in both
directions.
The Houston/Bonaire flight #1898 departs Houston at 11:30 PM
every Friday and Saturday during June and July (dropping to Friday's only in May, August and September), arriving on Bonaire the next morning at
6:25 AM*.
Continental flight #1899 will then depart Bonaire at 7:30
AM each Saturday and Sunday (Saturday only in May, August and September), arriving in Houston at 11:20
AM.
In February, 2012, there will be two weekly southbound flights on Fridays and Saturdays, returning northbound on Saturdays and Sundays. In January and March of 2012, the southbound weekly Friday flight remains, returning northbound on Saturdays.
Delta
Airlines flies direct Atlanta/Bonaire every
Saturday. Flight #0663 departs Atlanta at 9:40 AM arriving
in Bonaire at 3:00 PM. The return flight departs
Bonaire at 4:00 PM arriving in Atlanta at 7:42 PM.
KLM
and Insel Air have signed an interline
agreement, expanding service and destinations for those
traveling on both airlines. Passengers with a KLM
flight ticket can now fly to all Insel Air
destinations on one ticket with automatic baggage transfer,
utilizing Insel Air hubs in Curacao and St. Maarten.

stocking service: breakfast foods, snack items,
and beverages can be pre-ordered from a limited
grocery menu. These items will be delivered
directly to the guests’ condo unit prior to
their arrival. Guests can also pre-order meals
for in-room delivery from the property’s
restaurant, The Sunset Bar & Grill.

Bonaire Dominates
Scuba Diving Magazine’s Readers’ Choice Awards 2011
Once again the island of Bonaire
has swept top honors in
Scuba
Diving magazine’s Readers’ Choice Awards 2011.
The island received four #1 Ratings, exceeding that received by
any other destination in the Caribbean/Atlantic, and for the
ninth consecutive year, took first place for Top Overall Diving.
Bonaire received first place in three other categories: Top
Health of Marine Environment, Top Macro Life and Top
Shore Diving.
The island also received second place in seven other
categories including Overall Destination, Value for Diving
Dollar, Beginner Diving, Snorkeling, Visibility, Marine Life
and, Underwater Photography.
