Nature & Birding Tours: Resident
expert and naturalist Jerry Ligon is ready to lead you on a very special
nature or birding tour, either as part of the Island Explorer Package or as
separate excursions. Bonaire's unique location off the Venezuelan coast
attracts migratory birds in transit between North and South America. Bird
watchers can also observe various species only found in this part of the
Caribbean, such as the yellow-shouldered parrot. Bonaire officially has over
200 species of birds that have been sighted here. Nature tours add an
introduction to the flora of the island combined with some history and local
lore.
Kayaking
With a naturalist as your guide, explore
the inlets and secret passageways of Lac Bay's mangrove forest in a sturdy sit
on top kayak. Mangroves are, a vital habitat for many species of birds, fish
and other marine life such as "upside down" jelly fish and mangrove flatworms.
Or set off on your own excursion in a sit-in kayak to nearby Klein Bonaire or
along Bonaire's picturesque west coast. Sunset kayak tours are also available
as is instruction.

Land Sailing: Bonaire’s newest adventure
experience involves the fast paced excitement and adrenalin rush
of learning to race your own “land sailer”, a safe, easy to
learn sport utilizing a sturdy 3 wheeler with sail that tears
across Bonaire’s wide open tracks.
Cave Exploration: With our expert as your guide, take
advantage of this unique opportunity to explore the many cave
systems on Bonaire. These are ancient wonders, some with lakes
and tunnels and beautiful stalagmites and stalactites. You can
even snorkel in the crystal clear underground lakes.
Wind Surfing:
Few places on earth
are as beautiful as Bonaire’s Lac Bay, where the areas turquoise
water and brisk breezes provide the perfect environment for
windsurfing. Beginners learn in knee deep, calm water in the
bay's protected area and the experienced sailors head on out to
the more challenging waters beyond the Bays protective barrier
reef , where the wind kicks up a few clicks and the thrills of
the sport are realized. The even more experienced and
adventurous can sail Lac Bay's outer edges where the mast high
swells and strong winds guarantee sailing conditions that are
world class. |
